  A unique summer setting for children that models the typical day-camp experience, yet provides the support necessary for children to develop positive and enjoyable relationships with their peers, adults and their environment.  We maintain a low child/adult ratio and limit our enrollment to only 8 to 10 children per week of the program to maximize individual success and enjoyment. Many of our participants can feel overwhelmed by large group environments, yet still need experiences working and playing with others. By keeping our enrollment low, we ensure that each child’s’ individual needs are identified and addressed and our mission can be realized. Additionally, we are able to provide a comprehensive experience involving activities such as hiking, meaningful team-building initiatives, canoeing & rafting, exploring Zoo Atlanta and other community settings (parks, pools, etc.).  ORA accepts children ranging in age from 5 to 13. We welcome family participation each Monday for the hiking portion of our week. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the staff & other children, have a shared experience with your child (which offers many great discussion topics at home), and help ease your child into the summer program experience if necessary.

There are 8 weeks offered (please see schedule below). If you sign up of all 8 weeks, we offer a 10% discount.

  • Accepting children ages 5 to 13
  • The program will operate:
    Monday through Thursday (9:00 am to 3:00pm)
  • 8 to 10 children is the maximum number allowed for each week.
  • 450.00 per week
    (10% off for all 8 weeks)
  • Droff off and pick up at the Decatur DeKalb YMCA

Monday:  

9:00…Meet at Decatur Dekalb YMCA
10:00-1:00…hiking/lunch/group games 
1:00 – 3:00….GlenLake Swimming Pool                                               3:00…Pick up at Decatur DeKalb YMCA

Tuesday:

9:00…Drop off at Decatur DeKalb YMCA

10:00 – 1:00…Low Ropes, group games and lunch at Stone Mountain, Vickery Creek or Cochran Mill Nature Center
1:00 – 2:15… Playing in the creek or swimming at Glenlake Pool
 3:00 – 3:15… child pick-up from Decatur DeKalb YMCA

Wednesday:  

9:00…Drop off at Decatur DeKalb YMCA
10:00 – 1:00… Arabia Mountain Heritage Area

1:00 – 2:15… Playing in the creek or swimming at Glenlake Pool
3:00 – 3:15… child pick-up at Decatur DeKalb YMCA

Thursday:  

9:00…Drop off at Decatur DeKalb YMCA
10:00 – 3:00… rafting/canoeing (lunch on the river)
3:00 – 3:15… child pick-up at Decatur DeKalb YMCA

 Drop-off is at 9:00 and pick-up is at 3:00 at the Decatur/DeKalb YMCA
